Asian Pacific Islander American Vote – Michigan (APIAVote MI) is hosting a Redistricting Commissions Application Workshop
December 7, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
On Saturday, December 7th, 2019, from 12 pm to 2 pm, the Asian Pacific Islander American Vote – Michigan (APIAVote MI) is hosting a Redistricting Commissions Application Workshop that will be held at the Philippine American Community Center (PACCM) 17356 Northland Park Ct, Southfield, MI 48075.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s office announced that the applications to serve on Michigan’s Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission are now being accepted. The application window will be open through June 1, 2020.
It is critical that Michigan’s first citizens redistricting Commission represents Michigan voters, particularly the APA so our future election district maps are fair and impartial. That means that the pool of applicants needs to be as large and diverse as possible.
The success of the Commission depends on a large, diverse applicant pool and in partnership with Voters Not Politicians, the grassroots, nonpartisan campaign that crafted and passed an amendment to establish the Commission, the APIAVote will make sure to have as many people apply to serve as possible. We want to make sure the APA community is in a strong position to be represented on the Commission.
Together, we can make sure that Michigan’s first Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission is set up for success to draw our election district maps using a fair, impartial, and transparent system.
