Dancing to Better Heart Health

February 10 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Dancing to Better Heart Health

What: Go Red Soiree’ – a fundraising social dance party
Put on some red, grab your dance shoes and partner, or just come by yourself to learn some new dance moves, get your physical activity in and save lives at the same time.

The Go Red Soiree’ is a fundraising event of The Dance Pavilion, a premiere ballroom dance studio. The evening will include Salsa lessons, a silent auction, CPR training, appetizers and refreshments provided by Angel Food Catering, Aubree’s and The Dance Pavilion. Music will be provided by DJ Sean King. Plus, a local survivor will share how heart disease has affected her.

Entry to the event is $10 per person at the door. Additional donations, such as silent auction winnings, will be taken with cash, credit card or check. One hundred percent of all proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.

Why: Dance is not only important to the soul, but to the heart too. The American Heart Association, recommends adults get a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate physical activity or at least 75 minutes of vigorous physical activity (or a combination of both) each week. Dance can be that activity. In fact, a University of Illinois at Chicago study found that dancing led to a healthier body. After 4 months of Latin dancing, researchers discovered the study participants increased their physical activity outside of class and their walking speed increased.
