MI Freedom Center Needs Volunteers for “Tee It Up For Freedom” Golf Outing
February 28, 2020 @ 8:00 am - July 31, 2020 @ 5:00 pm
Dear Freedom Center Supporters,
Our annual “Tee It Up For Freedom” Golf Outing is our largest fundraising event. The success of this event drives the lavishness of the amenities we are able to offer our guests. I know that I am not alone among you in desiring to have sufficient resources to promote our services as a “Thank you for your service” on steroids. In order to make this desire a reality, we need your help.
A lot of work goes into the planning and execution of a successful golf outing…and many hands make light work. In this spirit, I have asked our Golf Outing Chair and Board Member, Janina Parrott-Jacobs, for a list of volunteer roles that need to be filled in order to make this event a success.
Here is the list:
BEFORE THE OUTING
Procure and organize raffle prizes, keep a running list, set up and display items, sell tickets (before, during and after golf…and go out on course), draw winners. Provide list of donations and value to Patrick.
**Need 5-6 people, plus coordinate any others who are donating.
Procure prizes for course games, trophies for winners, Lucky Dog winners. Set up the prizes for awards ceremony, accounting for all.
**Need 2-3 people
GOODIE BAGS and STUFFERS: Procure items for Golfer Goodie Bags (need about 150 of each item); Meet a day or two before the event to stuff goodie bags.
**Need 2-3 people
Procure silent auction items, set-up and display of items, record donations and give value declaration to Patrick, prepare bid sheets, monitor closing time, then collect bid sheets and declare winners. Refer to Committee Chair or Patrick (or Bernie G) to collect payment.
**Need 3-4 people
FOOD DONATION COMMITTEE:
Procure Breakfast items for Volunteers (donuts, pastries, fruit, coffee, etc.) about 20 people
Procure Lunch for Golfers and Volunteers: 200 sandwiches, chips, fruit, cookies
Procure bottled water/soft drinks for the same.
Help course personnel with set-up, if needed.
Dinner: Club will provide dinner but we can supply desserts: 200-250 approx. needed;
**Need 2-4 people
SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE: Need 4-5 people to actively submit and/or solicit sponsors of all $$ levels. Provide contact info of potential sponsors or contact them yourself.
CAR SPONSOR: Procure for 2-4 holes (par-3’s); Involves asking company to pay insurance to cover ace prizes. See Janina for details.
DAY OF THE OUTING (Friday, July 31, 2020)
REGISTRATION TABLE: 3-5 people (check in golfers, pass out goodie bags)
Hole in One Spotters: Depending upon number of holes there is a car at stake, need 2-3 people per hole to allow for breaks and relief. Must be someone at hole at all times, to verify if an ace is made.
PHOTOGRAPHER(S): Take pictures of teams, candid shots, and of prize ceremony.
**Need 1-2 people
PUTTING CONTEST: If we have one, need 2-3 people to constantly monitor the contest and get golfers as they pass by the clubhouse.

Our Board has set an ambitious goal of raising $70,000 at this year’s golf outing. In order to reach this goal, we need a full slate of golfers and a large number of 1 Star to 4 Star sponsors.
Whether or not you have the ability to sign up as a volunteer for this event, please help us spread the word so that we can make this our best event ever!
Thank you yet again for all that you do to fulfill our mission to serve those who serve us!
Honored to be of service!
