May 3 – June 1, 2019
The Northville Art House presents FINE POINT: JURIED COLORED PENCIL EXHIBITION, sponsored by John Goci of eXp Realty, to be held from May 3 to June 1, 2019. This exhibition showcases the beauty, richness, and versatility of colored pencil through 44 two-dimensional works selected by exhibition juror Barbara Goodsitt.
The 26 invited artists include: Emily Adelman, Fay Akers, Andrea Arbit, Denise Bickel, Marchelle Brotz, Mary Byrne, Tracey Chaykin, Travis Erby, Jan Fleming, Brandy Gerber, Sophie Grillet, Jim Grogan, Angela Helt, Tina Hotchkiss, Linda James, Karen Landrigan, Suzanne Lienhart, Melinda McMonagle, Christine B. Miller, Dean Rogers, Lynne Schaffer, Jennifer Stefanek, Gretchen Vandenberghe, Virginia Wait, and Nancy Warner.
Accompanying the exhibition, the Art House will host a 1-day Colored Pencil Workshop on Saturday, June 1, 10:00am – 4:00pm led by exhibition juror and instructor Barbara Goodsitt. Barbara will guide teen and adult artists through the steps of creating beautiful still-life with colored pencil that pops off the paper. Techniques to render glass, fruit, and other textures will be covered as well as color mixing and combining colored pencil with other mediums. The cost is $66 for Art House members and $72 for non-members. An additional $4 material fee is due to the instructor on the day of the class. ABOUT THE JUROR AND INSTRUCTOR
Barbara Goodsitt has a BFA with Honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA), Michigan Chapter of CPSA, and Detroit Artists Market. She currently is on the Board of Directors of the Ann Arbor Women Artists organization.
Barbara has illustrated over 20 books for the University of Michigan Press. Her art has been featured in Ann Kullberg’s publications and the Icarus Art Drawing Board and by the UART Pastel Paper websites. Barbara teaches Drawing in Color for Washtenaw Community College and frequently leads colored pencil workshops. She exhibits her work in juried art exhibitions and galleries. Feedspot.com, an online content reader, recently selected her art blog, https://barbaragoodsitt.blogspot.com, as one of the top 25 colored pencil blogs on the web.

The Northville Art House is a non-profit organization that operates as a 170(c)(1) governmental department of the City of Northville, MI. The Art House has been a gathering place since 2005 with the mission to bring the best of the arts to the community through exhibits and education.
